Environmental protection policies
1.Complying to the requirements of national laws and regulations to dispose wastes of the company properly, reduce environmental load and realize a green company with sustainable development.
2.Working with green partners to reinforce waste reduction from the source and prevent pollution, recycle resources properly and promote clean production.
3.Reinforcing environmental protection awareness, making sure all employees would take responsibilities for environmental protection.
4.Promoting and implementing environmental management system, establishing target for constant environmental performance, keeping improving environment performance through regular internal review.
Prevention of pollution
IVO’s development philosophy is “sustainable development and environment care”. The company’s waste water and waste pollutants generated in production would not be discharged until they are processed with advanced environmental protection equipment to such status as to meet the requirements of national laws and regulations. Solid waste would be stored according to different categories and qualified service providers will be entrusted for their disposal.
Water pollution prevention
Waste water generated in the company includes waste acid and alkali water, organic waste water, inorganic waster water (containing fluorine or phosphorous), etc. The waste water would be discharged into different waste water disposal system according to their properties. The disposed waste water, upon meeting the Grade 3 Standard of “Comprehensive Discharge Standard of Sewage (GB8978-1996)” and the pipe-connection standard of sewage treatment factories, the disposed waste water would be discharged into industrial sewage treatment factories. Water discharge pipes would be installed with online monitoring devices to maintain real-time monitoring on PH, COD, BOD, SS, ammonia nitrogen, TP and fluorine ions. If any pollutant exceeds allowed content or there are other abnormal conditions, the waste water would be recycled for disposal again to make sure they meet discharge standards.
Air pollution prevention
Waste gases generated in manufacturing process include acid, alkali and organic waste gases. Acid and alkali waste gases would be disposed in packed tower; organic waste gases would be disposed in zeolite rotor system. All waste gases could be discharged under the requirement of relevant laws and regulations.
Disposal of solid waste
Solid waster would have special storage place and would be stored strictly according to different categories and recycled and disposed by qualified waste-disposal factories.
Environmental protection audit
Audit plans are in place for weekly and monthly audit on the operation status of air pollution disposal equipment and water pollution disposal equipment as well as the discharge of pollutants and categorized storage and disposal of solid waste. Problems identified will be corrected in a timely manner to ensure normal operation of pollution control equipment, protect environment and reduce pollutants discharge.

IVO passed on Feb.16, 2009 the certification of DNV’s ISO14001:2004 system and got the certificate
Safety management system
IVO established complete standards for accidents investigation, including a whole procedure for accident disposal, investigation mechanism, reason analysis, strict execution of preventive and corrective measure. Reasons for accidents would be subject to 3-stage analysis and publication to prevent the repeat of the same accidents and new accidents.
2.Emergency response organization
A package of emergence response measures are set up in place and ERC (emergency response center) and ERT (emergence response teams) are established with the task of training employees for the use of emergency response facilities. Monthly drill of ERT would be held, including fire accident drill, chemical leakage drill, personnel evacuation drill, no-warning gathering of ERT members. ERT tour courses would be held regularly for ERT members to make sure they are familiar with emergence response procedures and the usage of relevant equipment, reinforcing the ability to address disastrous accidents.
3. Equipment assembly safety inspection (ESO)
Regarding the essential safety of equipment, before formal usage of equipment, it will go through ESO inspection according to international standards of equipment safety. Through 3-stage ESO inspection we could ensure the safety of assembly and all safety measures are in place before the equipment is put into usage, reducing safety risk of new equipment.
4.Analysis and observation of the safety of operation (JSA)
In addition to safety control on equipment, there are safety requirements on equipment operators, who shall accept relevant training on operation to be able to work on standard operational procedures. Besides, dangerous operations will be singled out and incorporated into Operation Observation Plan. Personnel responsible for employee safety and skillful and experienced employees of such operations would observe the operations and write down improvements upon the observation results based on which operators would be educated and trained and operations tools would be improved.
5.Hazardous chemicals management (MSDS)
To facilitate employees’ understanding of properties corresponding chemicals and disposal measures and fast capture of data in ordinary repair work and emergency response, in addition to placing safety instructions of chemicals in the storage area of hazardous chemicals and the work site of the equipment, the company would establish internal inquiry system of MSDS to enhance employees’ recognition of chemicals and their responding abilities against emergent leakage of chemicals.
6.Patrol inspection and audit
Perfect patrol inspection system is in place, including daily employee safety and environmental protection patrol inspection, weekly patrol inspection of directors and automatic inspection and review, etc. Through these concrete special inspection systems, we could identify loopholes in work site and management of employee safety and environmental protection and correct them in a timely manner to reduce the risk of accidents.
To normalize contractor management, the company formulated perfect contractor safety management norms and punitive rules, requesting that before entering into our company, personnel of contractors should have received general training on safety and health and sub-factories should conduct further safety and health education and training on them and notify them of potential hazards on site; before contractors start construction they would be requested to file applications; for highly risky operations, the application for highly-risky operations shall be submitted and approved, and such operations shall be under joint control of responsible units and employee safety department; contractor safety and health evaluation and review programs would be formulated. Contractors of better performance in terms of safety and health would be awarded with medals by the company, and the poorest would have to send their directors to report how they plan to make improvements; we hope to boost their performance in terms of safety and health through positive competition.
8.Safety education and training for employees
IVO is working to offer employees a healthy and safe working environment. To guarantee employees working in safe conditions and keep strengthening the education and training of employees on safety and environmental protection, the company opened a series of training programs regarding environmental safety and health to enhance the environmental protection awareness of employees, mainly including: Professional Skills Training of ERT Members, New Member Training on General Knowledge of Hazards and Contractor Safety Training.
9. Employee safety and environmental protection activities
To advocate the philosophy of “everybody responsible for employee safety” and enhance the recognition of employees on employee safety and environmental protection, IVO actively organize various activities about employee safety and environmental protection, including ERT Contest, Rewarded Q&A regarding Safety Knowledge and joint theoretical performance with government on firefighting and safety, etc. These activities greatly boost employees’ enthusiasm to take part in employee safety activities and help propagate safety knowledge.
